Holiday seaon is also Tamale Season in Texas. The 1st Saturday of December has 3 Tamale Festivals in Dallas, Houston and San Antonio. Food trucks, taco trucks and food vendors are selling tamales by the dozens, giving lessons and taking orders for Christmas dinner.
Tamales are labor intensive and require time, skill and tamale love. Learn to make tamales with a class led by food truck owner Alma Rangel of Down to Earth Vegan Kitchen. Alma will show you how to make delicious tamales in a way that's simple, efficient, and fun. If you wish, bring your favorite wine bottle to share with the class. Seating is limited.

The Latino Cultural Center in Dallas or the LCC will be hosting its 1st Annual Tamal Festival to highlight the history and cultural importance of tamales in Latino culture. FREE and open to the public. Agreat group of local tamaleros lined up for the festival. Come eat some tamales and take a few dozen home to the family.
